Biography

Corey Bennett is an associate attorney at Matern Law Group. His practice focuses exclusively on plaintiffs’ labor and employment law. Corey represents individuals facing workplace difficulties, including hostile work environment situations, wage and hour class actions, massive consumer fraud cases, and individual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination cases.

Corey’s goal is to seek justice for abusive, unlawful practices by employers. His drive to expose systemic discrimination, eliminate predatory conduct, and advocate for those in need has led to over a decade of successfully challenging the workplace injustice landscape.

Corey was the first attorney in Matern Law Group’s NorCal office and initiated the firm’s whistleblowing practice expansion. Notably, he has successfully achieved several seven-figure and dozens of six-figure settlements for his clients in consumer and employment cases, helping to change unlawful practices.

Although he has won substantial sums of money for his clients, some of Corey’s most meaningful and memorable wins are on a much smaller scale. As Corey explains it, his quieter wins on dozens of modest cases have made the most significant impact on his career. Two of Corey’s greatest success stories gave one client the ability to get a roof over their head and another enough money to go back to college. He wants his clients to feel the strength and pride of standing up for their rights in the workplace.

When you meet with Corey, you will feel at ease with his personal and hands-on approach. He is actively involved in each client’s case from inception through resolution. Corey is professional and experienced, all while remaining approachable and personable with each of his clients. His goal is to help people through difficult, emotional experiences at work.

Corey graduated with a bachelor’s degree in international affairs from Northern Arizona University magna cum laude before obtaining his master’s degree in public administration from the University of Southern California. Corey continued his academic studies by attending the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he obtained his juris doctor degree.

Corey is an avid road cyclist in his spare time and recently completed his first century ride. For fun, Corey loves doing and watching improv and going wine-tasting with good friends. His greatest joy is watching his kids experience things for the first time.

Corey was featured in The Washington Post, Sacramento Bee, Daily Mail, and The Independent. He was also named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2021 and featured on many state and national television, radio, and print media outlets.
