Ms. Khalili focuses her practice on representing employees in all aspects of employment litigation, in both California state and federal courts. She has extensive experience handling both individual plaintiff and class action matters. Ms. Khalili has successfully litigated, as well as favorably resolved, cases involving sexual harassment, racial discrimination, pregnancy and disability discrimination, as well as claims of retaliation and wrongful termination. Ms. Khalili also has significant experience handling and resolving wage and hour class action matters involving claims relating to meal and rest break violations, minimum wage and overtime violations, and other wage theft issues.
Ms. Khalili has handled all aspects of civil litigation from case inception through trial and through the appellate process. Ms. Khalili has served as first-chair in bench and jury trials and an arbitration hearing. In one trial led by Ms. Khalili, where she represented two sexual harassment victims in Los Angeles County, the plaintiffs were awarded $500,000 in emotional distress damages, as well as $2 million in punitive damages. Ms. Khalili was also able to secure an additional award of attorneys’ fees of over $950,000 where the Judge used a 2.0 multiplier, due to the outstanding result and work by plaintiffs’ counsel. More recently, Ms. Khalili led a trial team to victory in Los Angeles County, in representing another sexual harassment victim, securing her a verdict of over $300,000 with a high six-figure attorneys’ fee award.
Ms. Khalili’s experience also includes successfully writing and arguing motions, including prevailing on oppositions to motions for summary judgment and other dispositive motions. Ms. Khalili has written and argued motions for class certification, where the court has granted certification of the class, and has helped secure numerous seven-figure settlements in class cases.
